Big Machines at the Central Square Tampere -event held on Oct 3–4, 2025
At the beginning of October, Tampere’s Central Square was transformed into a meeting place for industry and education, as the “Big Machines at the Central Square” event brought together the region’s leading industrial companies and educational institutions. One of the event’s main attractions was the Ponsse Scorpion – a new generation of modern harvesters that captured the attention of visitors of all ages.
The Scorpion was showcased at the Ponsse & Epec stand, where visitors had the opportunity to explore the machine close – even stepping inside the cab. The cab combines advanced ergonomics and state-of-the-art technology, offering an experience of modern forestry machinery. Also a big interest was Ponsse’s training simulator, designed to support the development of professional skills in today’s forestry work.
Ponsse Epec FORWARD’27 program highlights the crucial role of the operator in implementing sustainable forest management.
On Friday, the event attracted 4,900 ninth-grade students exploring different career paths. On Saturday, the square welcomed 13,200 visitors, as families came to see the machines and experience heavy industry right in the heart of the city.
Other well-known industrial brands participating in the event included AGCO Power, Bronto Skylift, Sandvik, Kalmar, Geocadia, TANA, and Metso, alongside educational institutions such as Tampere University and Tampere Vocational College Tredu.
“Big Machines at the Central Square” was a powerful demonstration of how the heavy machinery industry connects with modern technology – and how young people can discover exciting career opportunities in a modern industrial and technical environment.
